Privacy Policy

In short: Sample Series works without an account. Your music and notes stay on your iPhone, we do not track you, and payments are handled by Apple.

Who we are

Sample Series (the "App") is made by Ram Ravi ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains what information the App uses, why, and the choices you have. If you have any questions, email support@kove.studio.

The short version

  • You do not need an account to use the App.
  • Your music, recordings, notes and settings are stored on your device. We do not upload them to our servers, and we do not have servers that hold your content.
  • We do not sell your data, show ads, or track you across other apps or websites.
  • Payments are handled by Apple. We never see your card details.

Information stored on your device

The App stores the following on your iPhone so it can work. This information stays on your device (and in your device backups, if you use iCloud Backup or a computer backup):

  • Audio files you import, their versions, artwork, tempo, key and notes.
  • Voice notes you record.
  • Journal entries, text notes, chord progressions and calendar events you create.
  • Your artist profile: name, photo and the social links you choose to add.
  • Streaming figures you choose to enter by hand.
  • Your effects, EQ, preset and app settings.

We cannot access any of this information. If you delete the App, this information is deleted from your device.

Permissions the App asks for

  • Microphone: only to record voice notes when you choose to record. Recordings are saved on your device.
  • Photos: only the photos you pick for artwork or your profile picture, using the standard iOS photo picker.
  • Notifications: to remind you about calendar events, sessions and releases. These reminders are scheduled on your device. You can turn them off in the App or in iOS Settings at any time.
  • Files: to import audio you choose and to save or share files you export.

Services provided by Apple

Some features use services provided by Apple. When you use them, Apple processes information under its own privacy policy:

  • Purchases and subscriptions are processed by the App Store. We receive confirmation of whether your subscription is active, but not your name, email address or payment details.
  • Location search in calendar events uses Apple Maps. The place name you type is sent to Apple to find matching places. The App does not track your location.
  • Playback controls on the lock screen, Control Centre and AirPods use standard iOS features.

If you add links to Spotify, Apple Music or Instagram, or tap a link to open a map or website, those services are opened outside the App and have their own privacy policies.

Sharing your information

We do not collect your content, so we have nothing to share or sell. When you choose to export and share a file, it goes only where you send it (for example AirDrop, Messages or Files).

When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use this only to reply to you and to improve the App, and we delete support emails when they are no longer needed.

This website

This website does not use cookies for tracking or advertising. Our hosting provider (Vercel) may process standard technical information such as your IP address and browser type to deliver the site securely. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address when the page loads.

Children

The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

Because your content is stored only on your device, you are always in control of it: you can view, edit, export or delete it at any time within the App, or delete the App to remove everything. If you live in the UK, the European Economic Area or another region with data protection laws, you have rights to access, correct and delete personal information we hold about you. As we hold almost none, the easiest way to exercise these rights is to email support@kove.studio. You can also complain to your local data protection authority. In the UK, that is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Changes to this policy

If we change how the App uses information, we will update this page and the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will let you know in the App.
